O melhor por-do-sol, a melhor festa. Apesar de tudo.
The best sunset, the best party. Still.

Fica o convite.

Fui.

Last year I didn’t manage to go to Kazantip. To be honest, I wasn’t even too thrilled to go. I have a feeling that, year after year, the festival is getting bigger, more commercial and more “foreign” (less local people). I even thought I’d never go back. But this year I did. It was going to be the final test whether I should keep attending or not.
The first impression I had reinforced my initial fears: new fixed structures, huge ones, scattered everywhere. A loooooot of foreign people from all over the world. And Mars (an exclusive part of the beach) open for all, due to the number of people attending the festival. It was really meant to go wrong. But it didn’t.
Right after the initial shock, I met some old friends of mine: people who have travelled the world with me, including Kazantip. Add to that a couple of bottles of Soviet Champagne (water, soap and alcohol), good music, the sun and the beach. It was like going back in time: everything that made Kazantip seem like a magic place at first site was suddenly there again. In a matter of minutes, we were behaving like kids, which happens to be one of the coolest things about Kazantip. There are no rules to be followed (except for peeing at the beach, which results in the immediate expulsion from the territory and the loss of your visa) and no one judges someone else’s behavior. No matter how crazy it gets.
The sensation of freedom experienced in Kazantip is unique. It’s a bit like jumping into a parallel world from which is very hard to come back. Literally. One of my friends, with a return ticket for Monday, only returned the following Sunday (without warning anyone at the office). I myself lost my return flight this year. A sign that I’ll most definitely be there next year. You are welcome to join.

Cheers.
